A Child’s First Book About Marriage

I picked this book up for my 5 year-old at the True Woman conference this weekend. My older kids laughed and asked, “Mom, why did you get Micah a book on marriage?!” All I need to do is walk into the children’s section of our local library to be reminded why.

Jani Ortlund has written a courageous book. In the midst of a culture that defines marriage anyway they like to, Jani provides a clear voice on what God teaches- that marriage is designed for one man and one woman, a promise to never leave or forsake the other- even when things get hard. She reminds us always to treat those with differing views with kindness and respect.

Jani touches on the reality of being promise-breakers, of the pain of divorce and the comfort of a loving God. And the beautiful picture marriage paints of the Big Romance between Christ and the church.

The BIG truths packed in this sweet little book make it applicable to read to all of my kids. Our libraries desperately need this God-centered view of marriage on their shelves.
